Alma Ellise (Cummings) McVey Holcomb, 89, of Granby, best known as “Blondie” passed away in peace Saturday, August 7, at her home with her children by her side. Her final wish was fulfilled. Born in Ossining, NY, December 19, 1920, she moved to Simsbury to start her family, then later to Granby. She enjoyed dancing, family gatherings, watching her grandchildren grow and being a soft place to land for her family, friends or anyone in need. She is survived by her husband, Henry V. Holcomb, Jr., her children: Sheila Shaw and her husband, John Parla, Douglas McVey, Charlene Bellott and John Getz, Lisa Taylor and her husband, John, and Gayle Max and her husband, Douga, four stepsons: Richard Holcomb, Thomas Holcomb, Henry “Skipper” Holcomb, III, William Holcomb, three stepdaughters: Sharon Dimmick, Kathleen Johnson, and Mary Lou Keaton, seven grandchildren: Tammy Larsen, Paul Bellott, Casey Bellott, Dustin Taylor, Chad Max, Carlie Max and Colie Max and 2 great-grandchildren: Joshua Larsen and Joseph Nitsch. She was predeceased by a grandson, L. Timothy Shaw, a sister, Charlotte Cummings, and a brother, Irving Cummings.
