Arthur "Big Boy" White, of Windsor, passed away May 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Ben and Chessie (Fortson) White, Arthur was born in Elberton, GA on August 13, 1948. He relocated to East Hartford in his early twenties in search of career opportunities and in 1995 returned to Georgia to be closer to his family. He was a kind and generous man with a knack for cooking and a passion for entertaining guests in his home. Arthur was a gracious host who always went out of his way to cater to friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years and caretaker, Brenda Joiner-White of Windsor; two daughters, Melissa Rucker and her husband Ernest of Athens, GA and Tanya Hawkins and her husband Mack of Manchester; two sisters, Rutha Cato and her husband Eastman and Ruby Summerhour and her husband Charles all of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-law, Johnie Joiner and Frankie Joiner both of Bloomfield; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Arthur also leaves his dear friends Earl and Thelma Armstrong of Windsor and Sam and Lena Farmer of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by his grandson Andrew Hawkins. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the chapel of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor with a calling hour from 4-5 p.m. prior to the service. Arthur's family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to St. Francis Hospital, Drs. J. Silver, E. Silverstein, and J. Colsanto, as well as his professional assistant Ada Burgois for their compassionate care throughout his illness.
