Isabel Snyder, 87, of Ellington, beloved wife of Joseph T. Snyder (deceased), died peacefully on Sunday, (February 17, 2013), at her home. Born November 27, 1925 in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late John and Ann Rose (MacInnes) MacDonald. As a child, during World War II, Isabel lived on the Isle of Tyree. After the war, she attended the Glasgow Infirmary School and received a degree in nursing. In 1951, she immigrated to New York City and worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Manhattan. Isabel was married to Joe Snyder in 1955. She leaves a son, Joseph C. Snyder and his wife Ellen of Vernon and their children, Grace, Ian and Rose; a daughter, Ann R. Brockner and her husband William (deceased) of New Fairfield, and their children Fiona and Catherine; two sisters-in-law Sadie MacDonald of Glasgow and Virginia Kearns of New York; a niece Fiona MacDonald in Glasgow and many nieces and nephews in New York. She was predeceased by her brother Ian MacDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at St. Luke's Church, Ellington with burial following in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St - I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
