Virginia M. (Doyle) Magnuson, 95, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Harry O. Magnuson, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She was born in Bridgeport, on February 19, 1917, daughter to the late Harrison and Mildred (Barlow) Doyle. Virginia and her family date back to the Mayflower and are descendants of the King of Wessex. She grew up in Stratford and was a graduate of Stratford High School. Virginia married Harry O. Magnuson on June 25, 1938 in Maryland and together they lived in Bridgeport and Springfield, MA, before settling in Suffield. She helped to start and operate the Atlas Doors Sales Co. with her husband. Virginia was a family oriented woman who enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting family picnics in the summer. She was a member of the Suffield Country Club for over 50 years, where she is currently an honorary member. A kind, caring, loving and devoted, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all. She leaves her daughters, Doreen M. Meleski and her husband Robert of Suffield, and Julie A. Magnuson of Dunedin, FL; her sons, Harry O. Magnuson Jr. and his wife Carol of W. Suffield, Gregg E. Magnuson and his wife Marilee of Pinckney, MI and Robert A. Magnuson of Suffield; her brother, Harrison Trask Doyle and his wife Elsie of Shelton; sisters-in-law, Rita Strong of East Hampton, and Ruth Doyle of Stratford; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was predeceased by her siblings, Winifred Canfield, Wayne Barlow Doyle and Emerson Edward Doyle. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North (Rt. 159) Suffield; with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Suffield.
