Dorothy V. Parlante Obituary

Dorothy V. Parlante, 90, of Somers, beloved wife of the late John Parlante, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Elmore, VT to the late William and Anna Elizabeth (Corrow) Gates, she was raised in Vermont and has been a resident of the Windsor/Hartford area for most of her life. Dorothy worked for the Windsor school system prior to retiring from Reddington Counter. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening and cooking meals for her family. Above all Dorothy put her family first and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; she will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her sons John Parlante, Jr. and his wife Diane, of Hebron, and Timothy Parlante and his wife Susan, of East Hartford; her daughters, Dolores Tantillo and her husband Richard, of Port Charlotte, FL, Linda Toft and her husband Jeffrey, of Windsor Locks, Deborah Malasky, of Stafford Springs, and Tina Conklin and her husband Ted, of Ellington; and 71 loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Peter Hedding, her daughters Loretta Smith and Sherry Scollo, and 15 brothers and sisters. The family would like to express their gratitude to the hospice staff of the Visiting Nurse Association for their compassionate care of Dorothy. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 12 at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. Burial will be at 11 AM Monday, May 14 at Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 11 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
