Obituary
Mildred (Griffin) Beckwith, 99, of Granby, beloved wife of the late Donald E. Beckwith, passed away on Sunday (June 10, 2012). Born in West Suffield, CT, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Silkey) Griffin, Mildred grew up in West Suffield and lived in Granby for the past 70 years. Before retiring, she worked as a sales clerk for Lord & Taylor in West Hartford. Mildred was a member of the South Congregational Church in Granby and was a former Sunday School teacher and a former member of the Granby Civic Club. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother Arthur Griffin, a twin sister, Mary Avery, and a sister Ethel Brown. She is survived by a niece, Susan Madry and her husband Michael of West Suffield; a special cousin Bob Beckwith and his wife Rhonda of Granville, MA; and four nephews and a niece; as well as many other cousins, good friends and neighbors, especially Ken and Maureen and dedicated caregiver Audrey. The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 14th at 10 a.m. at the South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St., Granby with the Rev. Dennis Moon officiating. Burial will be in Over the Mountain Cemetery, West Suffield. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13th from 6-8 p.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby.
