Susie (Logan) Lewis, 61, of Hartford, passed away peacefully Sunday (December 9, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on December 1, 1951, daughter of the late Steve Logan and Susie (Pate) Logan, and moved to Connecticut with her family as a small child. She attended Hartford High School where she was very active in the choir. Susie had a recognizable first soprano voice and performed at the Bushnell in Hartford. Susie worked with Dunkin Donuts and Last National Bank before becoming a "Hal's Gal" waitress at Hal's Aquarius Restaurant in Hartford. She most recently worked in dining services at Hartford Hospital. Susie was a woman of faith, blessed with both inner and outer beauty, who generously shared her affectionate and loving personality with everyone she met.
Those left to treasure her memory include her cherished daughter, Sherry Brown and her husband Marcus of Hartford; two adored grandchildren, Anthony Spence and Ahnyah Brown; and a great-grandson, Ahmad Spence. She also leaves four sisters, Mary Louise Logan of Manchester, Martha Logan Fox and her husband Bruce of Las Vegas, NV, Shirley Logan of Middletown, and Juanita L. Smith and her husband Alan of Hartford and a brother, Curtis Logan of Hawaii; two nephews, Dion S. Smith and Donovan B. Fox and a host of cousins and friends. Susie was predeceased by Sherry's father, Harold Lewis, Jr.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Friday in the chapel of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., in Windsor, friends may call beginning at 12 p.m. prior to her service. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of her family.
