Anne Marie (Wittenzellner) Drake, 85, of Windsor, passed away Monday (December 17, 2012) with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Max and Marie (Giese) Wittenzellner. Anne was a graduate of John Fitch High School, class of 1944. She was employed for over 25 years with the Hartford Courant where she was also a member of the Thomas Green Club. Anne was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church in Windsor where she was a member of the Episcopal Church Women's group and was involved with many church activities. In retirement, Anne loved cooking, quilting, golf, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
Anne is survived by her three sons, Chuck and Cathy Drake of Windsor, Mark and Linda Drake of Simsbury and their children Ashley and Max, and Stanton and Colleen Drake of Newington; a sister, Alwina O'Brien of Columbia and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her two brothers, George and Charlie Wittenzellner, a sister, Helen Wittenzellner, and her former husband, Stanton Eugene Drake. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012, 1 pm. at Grace Episcopal Church, 311 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church Building Fund, 311 Broad St., Windsor, CT. 06095.
