Linda Rubina Knight Obituary

Linda Rubina Knight, 80, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of Lorenzo E. Knight, passed away on March 3, 2013 at her home. She was born September 22, 1932 to the late Malcolm and Rupertia Oliphant. Her family resided in Maryland District, St Andrew Jamaica W.I. at her birth. Linda immigrated to the United States of America in 1965. She worked in New York City for several years before settling in Hartford Connecticut. Linda went to work at Oak Hill School for the Blind. Soon after she stabilized herself she started the process of sponsoring her three children to the United States. Linda had a successful career at Oak Hill School for the blind of over 25 years. She retired in 1989 after serving as Head Cook for five years. Linda loved life she was serious about her faith in God and faithfully served at Grace Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar guild and the Harvest Committee. Linda loved gadgets. She would keep up with technology by making sure her cell phone was updated regularly. Linda was very glamorous. She enjoyed shopping, the latest hair styles and keeping up with current trends. Linda took pride in cooking, gardening and decorating her home. Linda is survived by her husband Lorenzo, Children: Beulah, Glenroy and Gladstone; Step Children: Wilton, Cedrick, Derick, Armstrong, Jeanette, Sally, Clover and Carmeletta; Siblings: Joyce and Enid as well as numerous grand and great grand children; nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 9 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 55 New Park Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Linda's family will receive friends at the Carmon POQUONOCK Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave. (Rt. 75), in the Poquonock section of Windsor, on Friday, March 8, from 6-9 p.m.
