Janice Elizabeth Doran Stone Obituary

Janice "Jannie" Elizabeth (Doran) Stone, 67, of Tolland, wife of the late Robert E. Stone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Rockville General Hospital. Born in Tucson, AZ, the daughter of the late James Doran and Elizabeth Bigelow, she has lived in Tolland for over 30 years. Janice was an avid UCONN women's basketball fan. She loved to read, knit, and garden. She enjoyed music and engaging in political debates. Janice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving children, Scott Stone and his fiancée Yaniris Soto of Windham, and Wendi Stone and her husband Michael Moffitt of Tolland; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Gage and Sydney; her sister, Candice Nero and her husband Anthony of Moodus, her sister Lisa Meehan and her husband Patrick, and her sister Martha Hunt of Tucson Arizona, her brother Edward Doran and his wife Sunny also of Tucson, her brother Daniel Doran of Crocket California, her sister-in-law Susan Okula of Annapolis Maryland and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Douglas Bigelow. Her family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will be private. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 Twenty-Fourth Street N.W., P. O. Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090-180.
