Helen (Rogalus) Deptula, 95, of Vernon, wife of the late John M. Deptula, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Fox Hill Health Care Center. Born in Rockville, the daughter of the late William and Sophia (Tareilo) Rogalus, she was a lifelong resident of Vernon. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Rockville High School, Class of 1934. She worked in Rockville's Minterburn Mill until motherhood. Helen worked at the Rockville Senior Center in her later years, and was a full-time grandmother from 1982 on. She was an avid Hartford Whalers, UCONN men's basketball and Boston Red Sox fan. Her chicken soup was among the best. She enjoyed playing pinochle. Helen was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Rockville and was one of the founding member of the St. Helen's Society. She always looked forward to running the jewelry booth at the St. Joseph's Church Christmas Bazaar. She is survived by her son, John Deptula and his wife Catherine of Tolland; four grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Karyn and Margaret; a sister-in-law, Constance Rogalus of Vernon and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Sophie Graf and Lottie Rogalus, and a brother, Michael Rogalus. Her family will receive friends at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 West Street, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial donations in Helen's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
