Michael A. Violette, 66, of Vernon, loving husband of over 40 years to Ann M. (Griffin) Violette, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Leo and Alice (Guerard) Violette, he grew up in Mansfield and lived in East Hartford before moving to Vernon over thirty-five years ago. He was a graduate of E. O. Smith High School, Mansfield, Class of 1965. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement in 2006, Michael was an electronics technician at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for thirty-five years. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville. Mike was an avid golfer and a member of the Connecticut State Golf Association. He was a volunteer official at golf tournaments throughout the state. He loved to read and had an extensive library. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Michael Violette, Jr. and his wife Holly Chapman of Augusta, GA, and Amy Violette of South Windsor; his dear aunt and godmother, Alma LaBrecque of Bloomfield; a very close cousin, and the best man at his wedding, Ronald LaBrecque of Columbia, and many additional cousins and dear friends. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, July 6th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockville Public Library, P. O. Box 1320, Vernon, CT 06066.
