Aubrey Jepheth Stainrod, 86, of Hartford, beloved husband of the late Claudette Cynthia (Heron) Stainrod, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, (August 13, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Born in St. James, Jamaica, West Indies on March 8, 1927, son of the late Thomas and Mahalia (Birch) Stainrod, he had spent most of his life in Orange, St. James, Jamaica before moving to Hartford in 1984. He had spent his entire career in fire service and retired as the Chief of the Trelawny Fire Department in Trelawny, Jamaica. After moving to Hartford in 1984, he took a position at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a nurse's aide and retired after 10 years of service. Aubrey also worked as a building contractor while living in Jamaica and was experienced in carpentry, masonry, and finish cabinetry work. He helped many of his friends and families with their homes. He loved animals and raised chickens, pigeons and many other animals both in Jamaica and in Hartford. He leaves to mourn his passing, three sons, Birchel Stainrod and his wife Rose of Bloomfield, Lorane Stainrod and wife Suzette of Windsor, and Rowan Stainrod of Hartford; a daughter, Rhonda Stainrod of Maryland; a close stepson, Garfield "Chris" Malcolm of Tamarac, FL; a brother, George Stainrod of Jamaica; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by four brothers, Wesley Stainrod, Keith Stainrod, Clinton Stainrod, and Stephen Herbs. His family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 9–10 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 10 a.m., at Family Worship Center, Church of God of Prophecy, 650 Blue Hills Ave, Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
