John Harold Carney, a lifelong resident of South Windsor, died August 25, 2013 in Tolland, CT. John was born on September 13, 1931 to Arthur James and Anna (Goldrick) Carney. He served in the Korean conflict, and worked in the construction industry for more than 60 years, as recently as July working on projects for Data-Mail and West Hartford's Jewish Community Center. He traveled extensively, taking his camera all over the world. John was predeceased by his brothers James, Thomas and Arthur. He leaves behind his wife Carol Carney, brother Francis "Butch" and wife Dorothy, daughter Nola Dzen, son Kent Carney, grandson Gary Dzen and wife Melissa, grandson Alden Carney, great-grandson Lucas Dzen, and many relatives and friends. Calling hours for John will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Rd., South Windsor with burial following in St. Catherine's Cemetery, East Windsor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the International Mesothelioma Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA 02115.
