Born in East Hartford to Judge Levi and Ruth (Stillman) Hickey, she grew up in the house she was born in and spent summers with her family in Old Saybrook. After graduating from East Hartford High School as Vice President of the Class of 1943, she attended the University of Connecticut before marrying Frank Plumridge in 1945, beginning their life of 59 years together. She returned to school in 1963 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and started her career in nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford. She later worked as a visiting nurse for the Town of East Hartford before returning to Mount Sinai as the endoscopy nurse in the Special Procedures Department. After her retirement in 1988, Jane and Frank moved to Plant City Florida and lived there for 16 years before returning to Connecticut in 2004. Jane's commitment to helping others continued in Florida where she worked as a volunteer at South Florida Baptist Hospital. She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, James and Marilyn Plumridge of Broad Brook, John and Joyce Plumridge of Enfield, and Emily Worth of Cedarburg WI. She also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne Hickey of Malverne, NY, and a sister-in-law Mary Hickey of Manchester.
